About

Greetings! My name is Carmine and I'm the creator of a game called Quintet. Quintet is a scifi cooperative, cross-platform, multiplayer, "crew" game where players work harmoniously to control the same ship. There are 5 roles: Captain, Helm, Tactical, Engineering and Science.

I created Quintet because of my love of Star Trek. I also really like teamwork and cooperation. I wanted to create something that had depth but was also easy to hop on and get started playing right away. I originally intended it to be an Internet based game, but later learned that people would want to play this kind of game in-person. I met lots of amazing people over the past bunch of years who have helped me to get the game to where it is today.

During that time, I've been approached by lots of groups wanting to use Quintet for various things, but these features wouldn't quite fit and would be really awkward to get into Quintet. So I started thinking of starting from scratch, and fermenting the idea of what my next incarnation of the game would be like.

Ayla is my new passion project: "Quintet: The Next Generation", something much more complex with a focus on people who wanted to play the game in person more. Instead of having the typical roles (Helm, Engineering, etc.) Ayla is more "panel" centric. Anyone can switch to whatever they'd like (or you could build your own UI). The whole idea is build Ayla so you can bend it into the game you want/need.

I'm hoping it'll find it's way into your LARP or your team building event. I'm also looking forward to all the types of interfaces people come up with for it.
